Ted Wheeler is an infinitely qualified candidate for Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission. But in a not so surprising move, The rookie Senator from Texas placed a hold on his nomination out of fear that Wheeler supports a policy to require campaign adds to include information on who is paying for them.
Something the GOP and Tea Party hard liners are adamantly against.
Of course they are against it. Unlike many Democratic candidates, including our current President, who's money comes mostly from large quantities of small donors spread among all demographics, the GOP and especially the Tea Party candidates receive the vast majority of their campaign contributions from a much narrower spectrum of wealthy donors and Super PACs. And they don't want the American public and, more importantly the voters, to know that much less hear about it any time they see a campaign add funded almost exclusively by a few super wealthy backers.
If voters did get this information they would almost certainly begin to put together the fact that the Tea Party is not the party of the people, but they party of the super wealthy. And the super wealthy donors, Like Charles and David Koch, don't want their names plastered on every add they fund. That would lead to the Tea Party supporters realizing they are not supporting a grass roots movement, but rather a new world order with an American royal class at the top and the vast majority of us at the bottom.

GOP takes massive loses to gain the Tea Party a microscopic gain
The government shutdown showdown was a colossal loss for the GOP according to all credible sources. But there might have been a very small bump in the polls for some Tea Party candidates in their home districts for their David vs Goliath Bambi vs Godzilla tactics in recent weeks.
Tea Party pundits are lauding over the poll bumps as a victory for the little people. The only problem with that logic is that the gains were all in districts were the Tea Party and/or GOP were already solidly in the majority and in no danger of losing an election to a Democrat.
So why is the Tea Party so excited about these gains? Because it means in many of those districts the Tea Party is that much more likely to be able to take seats away from non-Tea Party republicans.
The Showdown was not about overthrowing Obamacare or the Democratic party or even the Presidency. It was about overthrowing the Republican party. And it seems to have worked.

The Republicans surrender unconditionally
So the Tea Party strategy to defund Obamacare has failed miserably and not only that, they GOP has also had to surrender every single concession they asked for, and were going to receive, back in early September. The only thing the republicans got in this whole fiasco was a 14 point drop in the polls and an almost certain Democratic victory in the 2014 elections.
Yes, there was one minscule change to Obamacare requiring harder standards for determining income for people applying for healthcare coverage at the exchanges, but this really was something the Democratic caucus was trying to get changed anyway, so it's not a victory for the GOP, just a minor face saving measure so they can claim some microscopic victory to the few voters they still have backing them.
They also got the talks on the budget they wanted, but they were going to get that anyway. The Democrats in both houses and President Obama had told them that if they open up the Government and raise the debt ceiling they could negotiate on any subject and any law...except now, because the GOP dragged the shutdown out so long that their approval ratings were down to 3 Tea Party members in backwater Nebraska, the talks the GOP wanted are now being conducted under rules and guidelines outlined by the Democratic party. This means that when the final budget negotiations come out on December 13th it will likely have far more concessions for the Democratic party than the GOP. Tea Party concessions in light of the recent tantrum that cost the American people over 20 billion dollars will likely be few if any. And any more changes to Obamacare are most certainly off the table now that polls show support for Obamacare on the rise.
So what did the Tea Party learn from all this? Likely nothing. They will almost certainly try to block the next budget proposal if it contains any Democratic concessions and they will likely do the same with the Debt ceiling on February 7th. The Tea Party agenda is to shut down the Federal Government and reduce our country to local governments run by the wealthy and oppressing the poor. So while they failed to crash the country's economy completely, they did manage to throw us into another deep recession. And you can bet their wealthy donors got more wealthy during the crisis because they knew it was coming. They likely planned it.
So did the GOP learn anything from this? Sure, they learned not to trust their Tea Party fundamentalists. They learned that they are going to have to fight super hard to keep their seats in the next election, even in districts where a Democrat stands no chance of winning because the Tea Party is coming for everyone. Democrats and Republicans alike. They learned that they are not one party, but two parties split not on ideological grounds, but on strategic grounds. The GOP are old school master strategists and the Tea Party are the new, impatient renegades that will use suicide missions and berserker tactics with no thought of if they can win or not, only what damage they can do to the enemy. In this case the enemy is America. The enemy is us and the Tea Party is coming for us.
Remind you of anyone?
Maybe...the Taliban?

House GOP sabotages bi-partisan Senate Negotiations
So after the House GOP got what it said it wanted, negotiations on the budget and spending before re-opening the Government, they deliberately sabotaged those efforts today as the negotiations closed in on a deal that both sides were happy with in the Senate.
Now the House is going to try and pass a plan that will almost certainly not pass the Senate and would definitely be vetoed by the President. They are attaching a absurd clause to the a bill they are drafting that would remove the treasury's authority to use "Extraordinary measures" to avoid defaulting on the debt should the Republicans decide they want to use the Debt ceiling as a hostage again in February.
See without this clause, the Republicans can't extort more concessions from the Democrats until late in the summer which would mean too close to the 2014 elections for the GOP's comfort. Especially considering they have taken a double digit hammering in the polls for using it as a tool of extortion the past few weeks.
They want to get this debacle behind them and let people "forget" that they started this and renew the fight in January, but rest assured they have a plan in place already to make it look like the Democrats and Whitehouse want to default on the Debt this time. Or at lest they think the American people are that stupid.
They will say "We tried to raise the Debt ceiling and the Democrats said no!"
When in reality they are making sure that the bill that goes to the floor tonight is impossible for the Senate to accept, but want the American people to be unclear as to why.
Make no mistake. The GOP is trying to make the U.S. default and they are trying to make sure it gets pinned on the Democrats.

GOP and Tea Party bullies get hammered in budget negotiations.
The GOP got their wish. They are negotiating the budget and raising the debt ceiling under massive pressure now that they have dropped 10-15 points in the polls because of their extortionist antics.
But the pressure is not on the Democrats to negotiate, it's on the GOP for getting the country into this mess in the first place. Having turned down the President's magnanimous offer to raise the debt ceiling and approve the budget clean and then negotiate on equal footing, the GOP now get's to negotiate a deal with the voters breathing down their necks and will likely not only not get any of the concessions they wanted, they will now have to give concessions to the Democrats who are now negotiating from a place of extreme strength.
This is what happens when you bluff at cards and the other side knows you're bluffing. You lose.
And of course this is all the fault of the Tea Party lead by their favorite son, jr. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas. The Democrats and the GOP had a deal they had struck after spending most of 2013 in negotiations. Both sides agreed to pass a clean budget and a debt ceiling and the Democrats agreed to leave sequestor cuts in place, take the GOPs number for the budget and basically give them all they asked for.
Then the Tea Party got involved and jr Senator Ted Cruz drew a line in the sand. He decided he wanted to get rid of the Affordable Healthcare Act of 2010. A task all of his senior Senators, fellow Republicans in the House and even some or most of his own Tea Party told him was an impossible goal. But he decided to do it anyway and the ill advised, poorly planned and horribly executed offensive against the AHA began with no exit strategy and an unobtainable goal.
Now that it has failed completely and cause untold grief in the lives of tens of millions of U.S. citizens, the GOP has no bargaining chips left. Holding the budget and the debt ceiling hostage has only wrecked their approval ratings making them the lowest in any parties history. If they actually cause a default in the U.S.'s debt then it's a sure bet that the GOP will lose the House by a large margin in the 2014 elections and widen the Democrats gap of power in the Senate. So the GOP has to not only surrender their position on Obamacare, it's likely they will have to give the Democrats some of the budget numbers back and maybe even lose or reduce the sequestration due to eat another $21 billion from the budget in January. The only concession of merit the GOP is likely to get is the ability to say they got their "Serious talks" before they had to reopen the government and those talks amounted to a staggering loss on their part.
I hope the Tea Party takes this lesson to heart and realizes that taking America hostage is never a good idea.

The Tea Party terrorists refuse to allow any negotiating in the Senate
This weekend the talks between Democrats and Republicans came to s standstill in the House and was taken up by the Senate.
Talks were said by both sides to be going very well. The Democrats wanted to extend the debt ceiling to after the 2014 elections, the Republicans wanted to extend it only a few weeks so it can be used as a pressure point forextortion ,uh, "negotiations" again soon. The Democrats wanted to extend the budget until March so the Government could reopen now and give us breathing room to have extensive talks on the multitude of topics the Republicans wanted to talk about regarding bringing the debt under control and the Republicans wanted to only fund the Government as long as some of their "wish list" demands are met before the Government was opened up again. A stipulation that the Democrats and the President said will not happen, but even so, the Democrats agreed to attach one of the Republicans demands to reopening the Government, a repeal of the 2.3% medical equipment tax, but in return they wanted the Sequestration to have a deadline in January to give congress time to talk about changing it so that it does not remove a flat 5% of budgetary items across the board and give more manuverability for States to decide how the 5% cuts would go into effect. The Republicans then cried foul and said the Democrats are trying to humiliate their party by asking for something in return for a concession to reopen the government and extend the debt ceiling.
In other words, the Tea Party Terrorists have made their play. Just days before the Debt ceiling is set to be breached, the Tea Party brings in another headline they will ride until the government goes into default.
"The Democrats are asking for a tiny little bit of breathing room to negotiate! We can't have this! They are trying to destroy the American way!"
This is what the Tea Party wants. Not the "Serious discussion" Speaker Beohner said was all they wanted. They got that. They have had a solid week of serious discussion. Still they insist on keeping the Government closed until the Democrats agree in advance to all their demands before any negotiation on those issues can take place.
No. The Tea Party wants the government to collapse so the wealthy donors that back them can do what they want when they want with no regard for the safety of the rest of us. Their intent is to turn free citizens into impoverished slaves. And they are going to get their way if we do not vote the Tea Party Terrorists out of office forever..

Ted Cruz says he wants to Destroy the World
In an interview with CCN's Candy Crowly, jr. Senator Ted Cruz (Republican) Texas, had the following to say.
"I don't want my children and my children's children to live in a world with Obamacare. And the best way to guarantee that is by destroying the world."
http://guardianlv.com/2013/10/ted-cruz-cons-the-people-and-the-republican-party/
So simply put. If Obamacare id allowed to exist, Ted Cruz wants to destroy the world.
Ted Cruz had declared his self the mortal enemy of the entire world.
